JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment procedure

The JEE Main exam for the year 2017 held on April 2, 2017 in offline mode and on 8 & 9 April 2017 in online mode. Engineering aspirants in India desire and look upto taking admissions into engineering courses in India’s best colleges/institutes like NITs, IIITs, ISM, CFTIs and others. Admissions to all these best engineering institutes is allotted through a set route of JEE Main counselling. The JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment will be held by JoSAA. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

The JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment procedure will begin from June 2017, after the announcement of JEE Advanced  All India Ranks by JAB on June 11, 2017 and JEE Main 2017 All India Ranks by JAB on April 27, 2017. Only candidates who would have qualified JEE Main 2017 exam and who will fulfill all the eligibility criteria as laid down by JoSAA 2017 will be considered eligible to participate in JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment. JoSSA has provided with a standard procedure for seat allocation that comprises of candidates registration online, filling & locking up of choices of preferred colleges/institutes, then 4 rounds of seat allotment and verification of candidates documents and lastly payment of allocated institutes fees and claiming of allotted seat by reporting to the institute physically.

JEE Main 2017 Seat Allotment will be done by JoSAA as per the seat matrix provided to it by all the participating colleges & institutes. This seat matrix data is provided after taking into account the reservation and other policies applicable or as decided by such institutes. Below is listed the sequence in which the seats will be allotted to eligible candidates for JEE Main Seat Allotment –

  • All candidates to academic programs at the IITs
  • All candidates to academic programs at the ISM
  • All candidates to academic programs at the IIITs (Triple-I-Ts)
  • Home State candidates to academic programs at the NITs and the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra
  • Other States candidates to academic programs at the NITs and the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra
  • Other States candidates to academic programs at the Other-GFTIs except the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra
