Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is one of the top management entrance exams in India. It is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur. MBA aspirants who are planning to appear for this exam must fill and submit the application form of XAT before November 30, 2017. It is important for the candidates to gain a clarity on XAT exam pattern 2018 as that will make the exam preparations easier.
Until last year, XAT used to be a pen and paper based exam. However, from this year onwards, it will be conducted in computer-based mode. CAT 2017 and SNAP 2017, two of the other management entrance exams, will also be conducted in computer-based mode.
Sections in XAT 2018
As per the exam pattern of XAT 2018, the exam will be divided into two parts. In Part 1, there will be three sections – Verbal & Logical Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation. As far as the number of questions is concerned, it varier from year to year. Last year, the total number of questions in this section was 72. All questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each question carries one mark. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and 35 minutes.
In Part 2, there will be two sections – General Knowledge and Essay Writing. In GK section, around 25 questions will be asked. The questions will be based on current affairs and other topics like economics, history etc. In essay writing, candidates will be required to write a topic on a given topic. This section will not just test the knowledge and understanding of candidates but also their ability to convey their thoughts and ideas effectively.
XAT is counted among one of the toughest management entrance exams in India. In order to crack this exam, candidates need to put in a lot of hard work. On the basis of XAT scores, candidates are shortlisted for PGDM programmes offered by XLRI, XAT scores are also accepted by around 150 other institutes across the country. With XAT scores, candidates can apply to a many of the leading management institutes in India. The exam is scheduled to be held on January 7, 2018 in 47 cities across India and 2 international locations.
