RRB JE Normalization of Marks and Merit List

The marks are normalized for both the CBT 1 and CBT 2. This normalization applies to the single and multiple sessions conducted for a post. The difficulty level of the examinations also is taken into account while generating a Merit Index. The Merit Index is based upon the raw marks a candidate scores, which is then converted into an Index simplifying the Merit List process.

There is also a standby list where candidates whose ranking exceeds the Number of Vacancies are called at the day of Document Verification. This standby list is composed of the candidates who are given the vacancies if the Selected candidates fail to join.

RRB Marks Calculation

Answer Keys will be released for both the CBTs. Both CBTs are of 150 marks, with 150 questions each. A candidate gets 1 mark for each for right answers and there is a negative marking of 1/3 out of the total marks for each wrong answer. Here is the formula to calculate the marks in CBT once the Answer Keys are published

(Number of right answers) x 1- (Number of wrong answers) x 1/3= x*1- Y*1/3

For example, if someone attempts 130 questions of 150, and 106 of them are right and 24 of them are wrong, then the calculation is done in this way-

106 x 1 – 24 x 1/3=106-8=98. This will means the total marks are 98. This is also a way to determine if the candidate makes the cut-off list.
