Qualification Criteria

Age limit: You must have achieved the age limit of at least 32 years as on 1 January of year of examination. Age relaxation for reserved category is applicable as per the standards.

Educational qualification: For entry to the assessment, you should have passed the written and practical elements of the final MBBS examination.

CMS Exam Routine

Part I is written assessment of 500 marks. You must take the UPSC CMS written examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each paper is of 2 hours duration. Part II is personality test taking 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the outcome of the written evaluation. There’s negative marking of 1/3 of mark for each wrong answer.

Computer Based Test

Till 2013, the written assessment for Combined Medical Services Examination for 2 objective type papers was being ran through the OMR sheets. However, from 2014 the UPSC CMS has decided the exam will be run in Computer Based mode.
