GATE Application Form is now made available by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to be filled by interested and eligible candidates. It is available on GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) on as well as Entrance Corner till 4 October. Candidates have to fill this application form to appear in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Examination. The process of GATE 2017 Application Form comprises of several steps:

  • Downloading official brochure and reading it.
  • Reading eligibility criteria and ensuring that you are eligible.
  • Filling the online GATE Application Form.
  • Uploading the documents, signature, and photograph.
  • Paying application fee and downloading application form in PDF form.

Candidates can later on check if their GATE Application Form is accepted or not by checking the application form status on the official website. In the form, candidates have to supply information related to personal, educational, and communicational details. All these details must be correct and complete else the GATE Online Application Form 2017 would be rejected in the screening stage. Fee for Application Form

Without application fee, the form would not be accepted by the GATE officials. Payment of application fee can be made in online or offline mode. For online payment – debit or credit card or net-banking. For offline payment – make payment via e-challan. In online mode, additional charges would be levied on the candidate. Tariff of GATE Online Application Form is as follows:

  • Fee for women candidate of any category – Rs.750
  • Fee for SC/ST/PwD category candidates – Rs.750
  • All other candidates – Rs.1500

Process of Online Application

Candidates have to register on GOAPS using name, date of birth, category, and gender to fill the application form. Once a candidate has registered, he can login his account and fill the details, upload scanned image of photo and signature, and submit the GATE Application Form. GOAPS is candidate friendly and very supportive. It uses easy interface so that even a novice candidate can easily fill the form. Signature and photo specifications are mentioned below:

Signature Specifications

  • Draw a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height x Width) on an A4 white paper.
  • Mark your signature with black or dark blue ink pen within this box.
  • Scan the image using a professional scanner in JPG format.
  • Maximum pixel resolution for the image is 160 × 560.
  • Minimum pixel resolution for the image is 80 × 280.

Photograph Specifications

  • Photo must be taken after 1 August 2015.
  • Background of the photo must be light or white color.
  • Face of the candidate must occupy at least 50% of area.
  • Size of the image must be 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm (Width x Height).
  • Maximum pixel resolution for JPEG: 480 × 640 (0.3 Mega pixel).
  • Minimum pixel resolution for JPEG: 240 × 320.
