JEE Main 2016 Counselling schedule

Counselling for JEE Main 2016 is slated to begin from 25 June 2015. Candidates who have qualified in the competitive Pre Engineering Test are eligible to participate in the JEE Main 2016 Counselling Procedure to reserve a seat in an engineering college of their choice.

From this year, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct counselling for admissions to the 20 IITs, 16 IIITs, 31 NITs, the ISM and the 18 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Until last year the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) had been conducting counselling for JEE Main on behalf of the Central Board of secondary Education (CBSE). With just weeks to go for the counselling session to kick in, i’m sure a lot of you are trying to understand the procedure of counselling for JEE Main 2016. To help you navigate through the counselling procedure comfortably therefore, the various stages of the JEE Main counselling process has been described below.

Stages of JEE Main 2016 Counselling:

The procedure of admission  JEE Main counselling can be a hectic challenge sometimes, if you are unsure about how to go about it. To help you through the process therefore, the various stages of JEE Main Counselling 2016 has been explained below:

Stage I: Registering Online

The first stage requires you to register for counselling at the official website of JEE Main. To complete registration you will be required to furnish some personal information and pay an online fee.

Stage II: Filling up Choices Online and Locking Choices

Having completed registration, you will have to identify your desired course/branch and institute and lock your choices online. The website will be open for you to fill in your choices from 25 June 2016 to 29 June 2016. You are allowed to indicate as many choices as you like in order of your preference. However, be sure to fill in your choices carefully as the seat that will be allotted to you will be as per the order of preferences that you have indicated.

Stage III: Declaration of JEE Main 2016 Seat Allocation and Verification of Documents

On the basis of the All India Merit Rank that you have fetched in JEE Main 2016 and the preferences that you have indicated, you will be allotted a seat. The JEE Main 2016 Counselling Procedure will include four rounds of seat allotment. As and when a seat has been allotted to you, you will have to go to one of the ‘Reporting Centers’ and get your documents verified, give your consent for the offered seat and make full payment of the fee as per the schedule that has been notified to you. If you fulfill all the preliminary norms, then a provisional admission letter will be handed over to you.

Stage IV: Reporting to the Allocated Institute for Admissions

The final stage will require you to report to the allotted institute in person and complete the necessary admission formalities.
