NSEP – National Standard Examination in Physics

National Standard Examination in Physics, which is popularly known as NSEP gives a great opportunity to the aspirants who want to become teachers in Physics. NSEP 2016 is a voluntary examination. The exam has been conducted by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) since 1987. The unique feature of this exam is that most of the aspirants hail from small villages and towns. The examination is conducted in more than 1200 centres across India and more than 40,000 students appear for it. The IAPT conducts the examination in English, Hindi, and few other regional languages. This year it was conducted from 20 November to 26 November 2016. The NSEP 2016 Result will be declared tentatively in the month of March 2017.

Salient Features of NSEP 2016

  • NSEP 2016 is the maiden step that enables the candidates towards worldwide Olympiad in Physics.

  • On successfully qualifying the examination, the students will be eligible to participate in Indian National Physics Olympiad.

  • Even though there is no official announcement made by the IAPT regarding the declaration of NSEP 2016 Result, it is likely to be declared in March 2017.

  • The gold medalists in NSEP are exempted from entrance test and can appear for the interview and join the DAE, directly.

About the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT)

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers was constituted in 1984 with an aim to update and upgrade the teaching quality in Physics as well as Physics teachers. After 32 years of dedication and hard work, the IAPT has turned out to be a large organisation which has 6500 life members and has 1500 organisation throughout India including 100 members from abroad.
