JEE Main All India Rank by CBSE – Check Here

JEE Main 2017 All India Rank is the depiction of a candidate’s position who has taken JEE Main 2017 (held on 2, 8, and 9 April 2017). As the name explains, the rank will show position of the candidate in a list on all India basis, which will be calculated on the basis of his score in JEE Main 2017. All the allotments through JoSAA will be done as per merit which will be assessed through JEE Main 2017 AIR which will be declared on 27 April 2017. The relation between score and rank is inverse i.e. higher the score means lower the rank which in turn implies stronger chances of allotment.

Calculation of JEE Main 2017 All India Rank

The process of calculation of AIR involves considering JEE Main 2017 marks. Now the composite score obtained will be compared with cutoff score. If the calculated score is equal to or exceeds the cutoff score, candidate will be deemed as qualified otherwise unqualified. All the successful candidates will thereafter be arranged in the all India merit list. The ordering of the candidates will be as per their marks.

Highest scorer in the exam will get JEE Main All India Rank and the candidate with marks equal to the cutoff will be placed at the bottom of the list. Early call for counselling and preference in allotment will be done for the candidate with lower rank than his counterpart’s. It may be possible that two or more candidates score equal normalized marks, in this case a tie breaker mechanism will be applied to resolve the issue. For this, sectional marks will be compared; the one with higher score will bag lower rank.
