Counselling Procedure of JEE Advanced 2016

KEAM 2016 Counselling will be held in three phases with first phase expected to commence from the 3rd week of June 2016. The candidates who qualify KEAM 2016 will be asked to register to participate in counselling. The overall process of counselling and seat allotment will be called as CAP (Centralized Allotment Process). There are multiple steps of counselling such as (in chronological order) online registration, filling of options, and seat allotment. Allotment in the participating institutes will be done on the basis of merit.

Stages of KEAM 2016 Counselling

  1. Online registration – exam qualified candidates will register themselves for participation in KEAM   Counselling cum allotment process.
  2. Choice filling, locking, and freezing – registered candidates will mark the options of courses and streams in the decreasing order of preference. Choices have to be locked within the stipulated period. Choices once frozen will not be allowed to modify.
  3. Trail allotment – KEAM will conduct trail allotment to impart an idea of how KEAM 2016 Allotment will be done. Candidates shouldn’t take the allotment in this round to be final as it will only be indicative of the actual process.
  4. Final allotment – Candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of following factors – position in the merit list, score obtained in the result, reservation norms, availability of seats, choices of colleges and streams filled.
  5. Payment of fee – allotted candidate must pay the admission fee at any branch of SBT before the deadline. In case of failure, allotted seat will be confiscated.
  6. Document verification and enrollment – The allotted college will check a candidate’s documents and certificates. on successful verification, candidate will be enrolled in the college.
