WBJEE 2015 Exam Complete information

The dates and syllabus for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) has been announced and is scheduled to be held on April 18,2015 and April 19,2015.WBJEE is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. The WBJEE is conducted to admit candidates to various universities and colleges in West Bengal, offering professional courses in Engineering, Architecture or Technology. The WBJEE 2015 Exam score, would determine the allotment of seats of candidates to various colleges or universities in the state of West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria:

A qualifying criteria has been set down for candidates intending to appear for the WBJEE 2015 exam:

  • The candidate must be an Indian national and must meet other domicile requirements of the state;

  • He/She must be 17 years or older by December 2015.

  • Candidates of the general cadre should have passed Class XII or any other equivalent examination from a recognized Board with a minimum of atleast 45% in aggregate. A relaxation of 5% is given to candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD or OBC categories.

  • Physics and Mathematics should have been studied as compulsory subjects by candidates aspiring to appear for the WBJEE 2015 exam. Candidates are also required to clear these subjects individually.

  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of atleast 30% marks in English as well.

The following eligibility criteria is applicable for Colleges other than Jadavpur University. Jadavpur University sets down an additional requirement of an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the Class XII examination or any other examination equivalent to it from a recognized board. A relaxation of 5% is given to candidates of SC/ST or PwD categories.

For candidates hoping to appear for the entrance exam to B.Tech or B.E Marine Engineering courses, an aggregate of 60% in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at the 10+2 level is mandatory. A minimum of atleast 50% in Engish, either at the Class X level or Class XII level is also required in order to be made eligible. Appearing candidates must have also passed the subjects of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Vernacular and English, individually. Candidates over and above the age of 25 years are not eligible to appear for the WBJEE 2015 Entrance Examination to the following courses.

WBJEE 2015 Pattern of Exam:

The WBJEE Exam comprises of 3 papers in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The paper on Mathematics will be scored out of a total of 100, while the papers on Physics and Chemistry would be scored out of a total of 75 each. The questions would be of a multiple choice pattern and there would be a negative marking of 33.33% in case of incorrect answers. The examination would be conducted over a duration of 3 hours.

WBJEE 2015 Application Process:

To apply for the WBJEE 2015 examination, candidates are required to fill in the application form which would be made available on the official website of WBJEE. Payment for the application can be made through both online or offline modes. On successful submission of the Application Form, candidates are asked to take note of a unique 7-digit numeric application number for future use.It is absolutely necessary for candidates to take a printout of the confirmation page and send it to the WBJEE board office , along with other necessary listed documents in order to successfully complete the application process,. The documents should be sealed in a brown envelope and send to the following address:

Once the application form has been successfully processed, candidates would be issued admit cards. Candidates can download their Hall Ticket/Admit Card from the official website of WBJEE by entering the application and registration number. This admit card needs to be produced without fail at the time of examination in order to gain entry to the exam hall.

WBJEE 2015 Important Dates:

A tentative schedule for the WBJEE 2015 Exam has been outlined:

  • Online applications for the WBJEE 2015 Exam is tentatively expected to be made available from the third week of December, 2014 till the last week of January, 2015.

  • The last date for receipt of confirmation page should tentatively be sometime in the second week of February, 2015.

  • The Test Dates have been fixed for April 18 and 19, 2015 and the results should be out in the first week of June,2015.

  • Soon after the declaration of the WBJEE 2015 results, candidates would be intimated of the Counselling schedule as per their merit list ranking. The allotment of seats to candidates, would be determined by their exam score, the availability of seats and due consideration of reservation norms.
